Just Poets President's Coronavirus Message

ALL JUST POETS EVENTS CANCELLED THROUGH THE END OF April.

Please read the following comments from our President, Jennifer Maloney:

Just Poets leadership has been following reports regarding COVID-19 closely. You may be aware that the World Health Organization classified this coronavirus as a pandemic, and also that Monroe County announced its first confirmed case. Guidelines for dealing with this outbreak include asking the general public to avoid large gatherings; in light of this advice, we have decided to cancel all Just Poets events for the rest of March and all of April. At this time we have made no decisions regarding events past the month of April, but we will keep you informed as circumstances develop.

To be clear: the Just Poets Presents! final Friday event that was scheduled for March 27 at Nox Cocktail Lounge is CANCELLED

Just Poets 1st Saturday meeting at St. John Fisher College that was scheduled for April 4th is CANCELLED

Just Poets 2nd Wednesday reading at Before Your Quiet Eyes bookstore that was scheduled for April 8th is CANCELLED

Just Poets Presents! final Friday event that was scheduled for April 24th at Nox Cocktail Lounge is CANCELLED

Please, everyone--take good care of yourselves during this time! Its' so important to follow the advice of the doctors who study these illnesses: wash your hands often, try not to touch your face, avoid large gatherings, or if you can't, try to remain at least 6 feet from others. If you suspect you are ill, stay home, and contact your doctor or the Monroe County Health Department (585-753-6000), or the health department of the county in which you reside.

Just Poets, we are strong, smart, resilient people. These cancellations stink, but are necessary to help keep all of us safe. I have confidence that the worst of this will be over soon, and we will be able to resume our normal schedule of readings and meetings. I want to see all of us together again, enjoying our art and our community, very soon!
