Colleen Powderly’s early poems reflect her childhood in the Deep South and a decade spent in the Midwest. Those poems eventually formed the basis for her book, Split (FootHills Publishing, 2009). More recent work has focused on narrative and ekphrastic poems. Her work has appeared in many journals, including Ekphrasis, Steel Toe Review, Third Wednesday, and The Centrifugal Eye, and has been anthologized in Malala: Poems for Malala Yousefzai and Mo’ Joe: The Anthology. Colleen belongs to Just Poets and has served on the editorial board for their anthology, Le Mot Juste. She was made a Life Member of Just Poets in June 2018, for her many years of service to the organization, including many years on the Just Poets board, including several as Vice President.
Don't forget to bring some poems of your own to share during the open mic portion of the event. Usually readers are allowed 1-3 poems, for a total of three minutes.
