Laura Klinkon will present her recently published The Silent Lyre/La Lira Silente, translations into Italian of some of Edna St. Vincent Millay's early sonnets. Laura will discuss how the idea of the book came about, her residency in Rome which helped her to finalize the translations, and the additional elements that needed to be addressed before publication. Several poems will be read in both English and Italian, and some decisions made in translating them will be highlighted. For reference, most of the sonnets in English are here: www.sonnets.org/millay.htm The book is available from Amazon, or from Laura at the presentation. An excerpt from the book's introduction can be found below.
