  • St John Fisher 3690 East Avenue Rochester, NY, 14618 United States (map)

Laura Klinkon will present her recently published The Silent Lyre/La Lira Silente,  translations into Italian of some of Edna St. Vincent Millay's early sonnets.  Laura will discuss how the idea of the book came about, her residency in Rome which helped her to finalize the translations, and the additional elements that needed to be addressed before publication.  Several poems will be read in both English and Italian, and some decisions made in translating them will be highlighted.  For reference, most of the sonnets in English are here: www.sonnets.org/millay.htm The book is available from Amazon, or from Laura at the presentation.
