This month’s program is:
Observations, With Examples, About Three Repeating Forms
Bruce Bennett will speak about three repeating poetic forms, the triolet, the pantoum, and the villanelle, providing examples of each on handouts and commenting on what subject matter seems most appropriate for these particular forms as well as how they work, both for the poet and the reader. His intent will be to illustrate how the device of repetition may be used in formal poems to enhance their effect and deepen their meaning.
Bruce invites anyone who wishes to bring his or her own writing in one of these forms to his session for possible discussion.
Bruce’s current poetry website is justanotherdayinjustourtown.com.
After the main program we’ll have our usual workshop: 3:00 to 4:00 Bring 8 copies of a poem you are working on for our group workshops that run after the program (from 3:00 to 4:00 pm).
We'll meet in the COP Conference Room, on the second floor of the Campus Center.
