The meeting will be lead by Celeste Schantz, who will lead a session called:
Writing with Patterns in Nature Part One: The Birds
Creativity abounds in the natural world. Learn the ways creatures in the wild construct their homes; the stunning variety of materials and techniques they use, and consider how our natural friends' creative processes might intersect with our own as writers.
Poets will be encouraged to write both poetry and prose in this generative workshop, as each can inform the other.
Celeste Schantz was the runner-up for the 2018 Stephen Dunn Prize in Poetry, judged by Terrance Hayes. She was the recipient of a full endowment to attend the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers Conference, where she studied creative nonfiction with the author Helen Macdonald. She has studied with the writers Marge Piercy and Kim Addonizio. Celeste’s poems appear in Solstice, Stone Canoe, One Throne Magazine, Poetry International, and other publications.
