Elizabeth Johnston

 

Elizabeth Johnston is a feminist scholar, poet, and teacher whose academic and creative interests lie in deconstructing myths about gender and sexuality. Elizabeth’s poetry has been nominated for two Pushcart prizes and a Best of the Net award and appears in many journals and edited collections. Most recently, two of her poems, one about Natalie Holloway’s abduction and another about the stoning of women in the Middle East, appear in the book Veils, Halos, and Shackles: An International Anthology of Women’s Oppression and Empowerment. A founding member of the writer’s group, Straw Mat Writers, Elizabeth facilitates writing workshops at the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester and teaches in the English and Philosophy Department at Monroe Community College.
