Anita Augesen is a retired career counselor. She has been active in Just Poets since the beginning. She was president from 2008 to 2009 and on the Board of Directors from 2012 to 2014. She coordinated and curated the Just Poets Monthly Open Mic for two-and-a-half years and is currently on the Editorial Board for Le Mot Juste, 2016. Her poems have appeared in Le Mot Juste and several other local anthologies, Knocking on the Silence, Summer Songs, Remember Faces, and Liberty’s Virgil. In 2015 she won the Just Poets Janus Award. Anita is also a visual artist/photographer and her works have been exhibited in local galleries. Her photos were on the cover for Le Mot Juste in 2006 and 2011. Two of her favorite poets are Ellen Bass and Dorianne Laux. For fun she makes jewelry for herself and her friends.
